What Is MemoHoney Made Of? The Ingredients List, Line by Line

One printed panel answers this question better than any advert. Here it is, taken a line at a time, in plain words.

Quick answer

Each MemoHoney capsule declares seven dietary ingredients: niacin 7.5 mg NE, calcium 18 mg, L-arginine 200 mg, L-arginine AKG 200 mg, L-citrulline HCl 100 mg, L-citrulline malate 100 mg and beta alanine 40 mg. The capsule is hypromellose. There is no honey and no proprietary blend.

Key facts

  • Seven dietary ingredients, seven printed amounts, 665.5 mg declared in total (our addition).
  • Five of the seven are amino acid compounds: two forms of arginine, two forms of citrulline and beta alanine.
  • The other two are niacin at 7.5 mg NE and calcium as calcium carbonate at 18 mg.
  • Other ingredients: hypromellose (vegetable capsule), vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide.
  • There is no honey in the bottle, and no ginkgo, lion's mane or blueberry.
  • Daily Value is not established for the five amino acid lines. Niacin prints 47% and calcium prints 1.5%.
  • The label says one capsule a day, so each of these amounts is also the daily amount.

What does the MemoHoney Supplement Facts panel say?

The label gives a serving size of one capsule and 30 servings per container. Every amount below is per capsule. The panel is not a blend, so each line stands alone.

IngredientAmount% Daily Value
Niacin7.5 mg NE47%
Calcium (as calcium carbonate)18 mg1.5%
L-Arginine (base)200 mgnot established
L-Arginine AKG 2:1 extract200 mgnot established
L-Citrulline HCl100 mgnot established
L-Citrulline malate100 mgnot established
Beta alanine40 mgnot established

Per 1 capsule, as printed. DV means Daily Value. The amino acid lines print two asterisks because no DV is established.

Add the seven amounts and you get 665.5 mg. That total is our arithmetic. The label prints no total.

What are the five amino acid lines?

Arginine and citrulline are amino acids that feed a body pathway for nitric oxide. Beta alanine is an amino acid studied for how muscles handle effort. In our sources these appear mostly in exercise research. The NIH fact sheet on exercise and athletic performance covers four of the five.

That is worth knowing because the bottle is sold for memory. The NCCIH digest on supplements and thinking skills reviews ginkgo, omega-3, vitamin E, curcumin and B vitamins. It does not mention amino acids at all.

The AKG in the second arginine line stands for alpha-ketoglutarate, and the label prints it as an extract at a 2:1 ratio. None of our sources turns that ratio into a plain arginine figure, so we do not guess one. The same is true for the citrulline HCl line: no source we read gives a conversion.

What we can say is the sum: arginine in both forms is 400 mg a capsule, and citrulline in both forms is 200 mg a capsule.

Why are niacin and calcium on the panel?

Niacin is a B vitamin. The NIH lists the adult daily need at 16 mg NE for men and 14 mg NE for women. One capsule holds 7.5 mg NE. The label's 47% is correct: 7.5 divided by 16 is 46.9%, which rounds to 47%.

Flushing from niacin is typically reported at 30 to 50 mg or more of nicotinic acid, and the upper limit for supplemental niacin is 35 mg. This capsule is well under both. The NIH niacin sheet says nothing about memory.

Calcium is the odd one out. The sales material names six ingredients and leaves calcium out, but the panel lists it at 18 mg. The FDA Daily Value for calcium is 1,300 mg. Divide 18 by 1,300 and you get 1.4%, which rounds to 1%. The label prints 1.5%. That is a small printing slip, and we point it out because the rest of the panel is so exact.

Which form of niacin is used is not stated. The label prints only niacin.

Does MemoHoney contain honey?

No. The brand has a honeycomb logo and dripping-honey artwork, and a bee appears in the pictures. The panel and the other-ingredients line contain no honey. Seven dietary ingredients and three other ingredients make ten items in all, and honey is not one of them.

The photos also show ginkgo leaves, lion's mane mushrooms, blueberries and a herb sprig. None of those is on the panel either. If you buy for one of those, read the label first.

What is the capsule itself made of?

The other-ingredients line reads hypromellose (vegetable capsule), vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide. Hypromellose is a plant-based shell, so this is not a gelatin capsule. The listing carries a vegetarian mark, and the printed line is consistent with it.

The listing also shows gluten free and milk free marks. Nothing on the printed list is a gluten or milk source, but no certifying body is named and no test was supplied. No allergen statement is printed on the label, so anyone with a serious allergy should phone the distributor and ask.

The capsule size was not published. MemoHoney is sold as capsules. No drops or gummies were published to us, so ignore any page that offers them.

What is not listed at all?

  1. Any assay or purity figure. Amino acids are single compounds, so this matters less than for a plant extract, but none is printed.
  2. A certificate of analysis. A reference code exists, and the certificate itself was not published.
  3. The arginine content of the AKG extract and the citrulline content of the HCl salt.
  4. The name of the factory that fills the capsules.
  5. An expiry date. The material we were given says the lot and best-before may appear on the base of the bottle.

We list these so you know what a full panel still leaves open. A complete panel tells you what the seller says is inside. It does not prove the capsule matches.

Frequently asked questions

What is MemoHoney made of?

Each capsule declares niacin 7.5 mg NE, calcium 18 mg, L-arginine 200 mg, L-arginine AKG 200 mg, L-citrulline HCl 100 mg, L-citrulline malate 100 mg and beta alanine 40 mg. The capsule is hypromellose with vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide.

Is there a proprietary blend in MemoHoney?

No. Every one of the seven dietary ingredients has its own printed amount. Nothing is hidden inside a blend total, so anyone can add up the panel.

Does MemoHoney contain honey?

No. The name and the honeycomb logo suggest honey, but honey is not on the Supplement Facts panel or in the other-ingredients line.

Does MemoHoney contain ginkgo or lion's mane?

No. Ginkgo leaves and lion's mane mushrooms appear in the product photographs, but neither is on the printed panel. The panel is the document that counts.

Is the capsule gelatin?

No. The label names hypromellose, a vegetable capsule. The other two capsule ingredients are vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide.

Does the label list any allergens?

No allergen statement was printed on the label we saw. If you have a serious allergy, phone the distributor number on the bottle and ask before you take a capsule.

Our view

The best thing about this label is that it can be read. Seven lines, seven numbers, no blend. You do not have to trust us to check it, because you can add it up yourself with a phone.

The weakness is not in what is hidden but in what is shown. The amino acid amounts are small next to the amounts used in research on the same compounds, and our other pages work through that. If you buy, buy for what the panel says, not for what the photographs show.
